Jayson Blair

Significance: Former New York Times reporter accused of massive plagiarism.

Notable for: In a 7,228-word article in May 11, 2003, the New York Times outlined details of the said plagiarism which spanned Blair's four year tenure at the newspaper. Thirty-six of the 76 articles Blair had penned in an eight month period were problematic. The disgraced reporter was accused, among other ethical violations, of falsifying dispatches, concocting scenes, lifting material, and creating on-scene impressions from photographs. The events were portrayed in the film A Fragile Trust. Ironically, Blair released a tell-all book and toured journalism schools to speak on journalistic ethics.
